Curator’s Advent. Day 16. Slow death by copyright

Nothing to see here.
Nothing to see here.
Nothing to see here.
Nothing to see here

The curator who wants to share collections freely and openly is saddened by the imperialistic appropriation of out of copyright works by virtue of creating a new slavish copy. The curator who wants to share collections freely and openly is saddened by the government licensing scheme for orphan works. The curator who wants to share collections freely and openly is saddened by the perpetuity in copyright imposed by corporate buy-outs. The curator dies bit by bit at every opportunity lost.

  1. Hi Tehmina, just the other day had a meeting about this – it wasn’t something I really wanted to attend and my heart sank at the thought of it – but as the meeting went on and the complexities kept getting more complex, I wondered if this could be looked at in another way….be good to ‘talk’ through the idea at some point and find out if my suggestion might be helpful, as it fell flat at the meeting!
